The Coderina University Challenge (COUCH) – Empowering STEAM education
The Coderina University Challenge (COUCH) 2025 grand finale is scheduled for November 20 at the National Universities Commission Secretariat in Abuja, bringing together the top 10 student innovation teams from across Nigeria.
Organised by the Coderina Education and Technology Foundation, the competition encourages students to develop practical solutions to real-world problems using technology, research, and entrepreneurship. This year’s finale coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week under the theme “Together We Build.”
Finalist projects include: Nile University’s Neuronaut Robotics, building autonomous underwater vehicles for pipeline inspection; Kwara State University’s Team Green, creating SUNPOD, a portable solar-powered station; FUT Akure’s Team CIRCLE, developing an AI-enabled smart waste management system; and Ahmadu Bello University’s Pup Industries, transforming plastic waste into mosquito-repellent paint.
Other finalists are FUT Minna’s Waste2Light, converting waste into energy; Lagos State University’s ScrapLink, a digital scrap metal marketplace; ADSU Fresh Innovators, producing eco-lubricant from plastics; Imo State University’s Team IMSU, turning palm oil waste into biochar and biogas; Kaduna State University’s ReGenX, creating biodegradable packaging that becomes biofertiliser; and Igbinedion University’s EcoCircular Labs, producing biofertiliser from palm oil waste.
