AAU Governing Council Denies Fresh Vice-Chancellor Search

The Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has dismissed reports that it was ordered by the Edo State Government to restart the process of appointing a substantive Vice-Chancellor.

In a statement signed by the Principal Assistant Registrar for Media and Protocol, Otunba Michael Aladenika, the Council said the selection exercise it conducted remains valid. It explained that only petitions raised after the process are currently under review.

The Council, chaired by Chief Dan Osi Orbih, stressed that the exercise followed due process and the laws of the university. According to the statement, the vacancy was advertised in three national newspapers, applications were received nationwide, and shortlisted candidates were interviewed.

At the end of the process, three names were forwarded to the Edo State Governor for final consideration, in line with the law. The Council maintained that its recommendations were strictly based on merit, without bias or interference.
