On Workers’ Day, May 1, 2025, Professor A. C. Onyeka, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), congratulated staff across the university for their dedication and contribution to the institution’s progress.
In his message, Professor Onyeka expressed pride in the accomplishments made since he took office on February 10, 2025, stating the collaborative spirit that led to several key achievements.
Under his leadership, AIFUE has established a five-member management team on an acting basis, initiated the process to appoint permanent Principal Officers, and successfully hosted the university’s first matriculation ceremony.
The university also held two Council meetings and three Senate meetings and successfully launched its first semester examinations despite early challenges.
Additionally, the university resolved longstanding issues with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), including the payment of over ₦75 million and the retrieval of outstanding certificates, a significant milestone in its efforts to clear administrative bottlenecks.
Looking forward, Professor Onyeka urged continued collaboration in selecting a substantive Vice Chancellor and outlined four priority areas for the university’s development: strengthening governance structures, enriching academic programs, improving staff and student welfare, and fostering positive relationships with the surrounding communities.
As the university celebrates Workers’ Day, Professor Onyeka reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring AIFUE continues on its path to national relevance and academic excellence, promising that staff contributions will remain vital to the university’s future success.
