The Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) says it is working to shape agricultural research that is more responsive, inclusive, and transformative.
Executive Secretary of ARCN, Dr. Abubakar Adamu Dabban, disclosed this on Wednesday at the National Stakeholders Forum on Agricultural Research Capabilities in Abuja. The event was held in partnership with the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), alongside CODRI and NACHCARD.
With the theme “Research Capabilities in Nigeria: The Journey So Far,” the forum highlighted progress in the nation’s agricultural research system. The ARCN boss noted that Nigeria has developed strong human resources, technological innovations, infrastructure, and collaborative networks over the years.
He stressed that if the country can build on these achievements, it will go a long way to boost food security and promote sustainable farming practices. The National Stakeholders Forum on Agricultural Research brought together key players in the segment to chart new strategies for strengthening agricultural research and ensuring it directly benefits farmers and communities.
