The Nigerian Army has declared its ambition to make its network of Command Secondary Schools the leading centres of learning in the country, using a graduation ceremony in Akure as a platform to signal its intent.
Speaking at the 13th valedictory service of Command Day Secondary School, Maj. Gen. Obinna Onubogu, General Officer Commanding 2 Division, said the Army’s schools would not only compete but lead nationally in character, discipline, and academic output. “This is more than a graduation. It is a statement of intent. We are raising a generation of competent and morally upright leaders,” he said in remarks delivered by Col. Kyari Baba Kura of the 32 Artillery Brigade.
Onubogu praised the consistent record of Command students in public examinations, describing it as proof of “strong foundations and great promise.” He also pledged sustained investment in infrastructure and teaching capacity to entrench high standards. The Army chief urged the graduating students to carry forward the values of loyalty, resilience, and service. “The future begins now. Let the world feel the impact of a Command education,” he told them. The ceremony included cultural displays, musical performances, and tributes to staff and students.
