Students at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), have raised concerns over the growing presence of cattle roaming freely across the campus.
Herds of cows were recently seen blocking major roads and pedestrian walkways within the university, forcing students and staff to take detours or wait for the animals to pass. Some described the situation as both inconvenient and unsafe.
One student told reporters, “We know this is an agricultural university, but that does not mean cows should dominate our roads. We came here for lectures, not to wrestle with cows on the way to class.”
While some find the sight amusing, others say it has become a severe disruption to campus life. The animals are said to have caused delays and interruptions during daily movement around the institution.
FUNAAB, one of Nigeria’s leading agricultural universities, has yet to issue an official response to the concerns. However, students and staff are calling on the management to address the matter, warning that unchecked cattle movement could affect safety and academic activities if left unresolved.
