Dr Azeez Butali, a Nigerian professor at the University of Iowa, has been awarded the Honorary Doctorate Award by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. The award was announced after a Senate meeting on June 3, 2025.
Dr Butali, who is a professor of Oral Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine, expressed joy over the recognition. He said the award motivates him to continue his research on preventing orofacial clefts and improving care for affected families in Africa and globally.
The Honorary Causa Award is given to top medical experts who are not Fellows of the College but have made outstanding contributions in their field. Butali will receive the award at the 19th Annual Scientific Conference and All Fellows Congress (ASCAF), scheduled to take place from August 4 to 8, 2025, in Sokoto.
