The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI), Biase, Cross River State, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide digital skills training for Nigerian youths.
The agreement was formalised during a recent visit by TCTI’s Director General, Professor Taoheed Adedoja, to EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Olukoyede noted that while the EFCC’s primary role is to investigate and prosecute financial crimes, preventive measures such as youth empowerment are also crucial.
He stated that equipping young people with digital skills can redirect their energy towards legitimate ventures, reducing the allure of cybercrime.
“No single agency can tackle this challenge alone,” he said. “By integrating digital skill acquisition into our preventive strategies, we aim to engage youths constructively and deter them from illicit activities.”
Professor Adedoja added that the initiative aims to equip Nigerian youths with digital literacy, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to national development.
He also mentioned that the programme would offer psychological support and rehabilitation services, presenting the EFCC as a proactive institution committed to youth development.
This collaboration aligns with broader national efforts to empower young Nigerians with technical and digital skills, thereby fostering a workforce equipped to meet the demands of the modern economy.
