Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has achieved full accreditation for 43 academic programmes, including Nursing Sciences, following assessments by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
The NUC’s accreditation, based on evaluations conducted in October and November 2024, was communicated to the university in a letter dated April 30, 2025.
The letter, signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, confirmed the full accreditation status of 42 programmes across various faculties.
The accredited undergraduate programmes include Law, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Geology, Psychology, Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Christian Religious Studies, Electrical and Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and Philosophy.
Postgraduate programmes granted full accreditation are M.Sc. Banking and Finance, Master of Business Administration, M.Sc. Business Administration, Master of Personnel Management, and Master of Public Administration.
Separately, the NMCN granted full accreditation to EKSU’s Nursing Sciences programme in a letter dated May 20, 2024.
Signed by the Council’s Registrar and CEO, Dr Faruk Abubakar, the letter also approved an increase in the university’s annual nursing student intake from 50 to 100, effective immediately.
Vice Chancellor Professor Edward Olanipekun expressed satisfaction with the accreditations, attributing the achievement to the dedication of the university’s academic and administrative staff.
He acknowledged the support of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Chancellor Dr Tunji Olowolafe, and Pro-Chancellor Professor Akin Oyebode in advancing the university’s academic standards.
