Excel College, Ejigbo, Lagos, and its Parent Teacher Association (PTA) have reiterated their commitment to discipline following a viral video alleging that pupils of the school were drinking and smoking.
At an emergency PTA meeting over the weekend, parents pledged support for measures introduced by the college to strengthen morals and curb misconduct.
PTA chairman, Sir Ndubisi Udeagu, disclosed that the school had met with the Lagos State Ministry of Education’s Quality Assurance Unit and agreed to implement the directives issued. “The college management has begun immediate implementation of the conditions set out by the ministry,” he said.
Director of Studies, Dr Dele Oke, told reporters that the controversial video was manipulated, claiming that mischief-makers merged two unrelated clips to malign the school.
He emphasised that new disciplinary measures were already being implemented and that officials from the ministry would be informed about the steps taken.
