The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) reports that female students have emerged as the overall best graduating students in three of the last four academic sessions, with the Department of Economics producing two of the awardees.
Records show that in the 2019/2020 session, Olajide Omojarabi of Statistics finished top with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.83. He was succeeded in 2020/2021 by Zafirah Eneyamire Isah from Chemistry, who posted a CGPA of 4.89.
In 2021/2022, Economics student Mariam Oyiza Ibrahim claimed the honour with a CGPA of 4.84, while the following year, the department again led with Beauty Ene-Ojo Enyo-Ojo achieving a CGPA of 4.92 – the highest in the four-year cycle.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi stated that the achievements reflected the university’s commitment to fostering competitiveness and excellence across its faculties.
Analysts note that the trend highlights both the determination of female scholars and the rising profile of the Economics Department.
