The Edike Foundation has called for more substantial efforts to empower Nigerian youths through education as a way to secure the country’s future and drive sustainable development. The appeal was made during its “Gown to Town” workplace readiness programme at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where undergraduates, fresh graduates, and NYSC members were trained on opportunities in the banking and finance industry.

Executive Director of the foundation, Oluwatimilehin Akinola, urged stakeholders to focus more on tackling the challenge of out-of-school children, stressing that education remains key to building a stronger economy for Nigeria and Africa.

According to the Managing Partner of the foundation, Tinuoye Akinola, the foundation was established in 2023 as the CSR arm of Edike Africa to support disadvantaged students through scholarships, mentorship, and advocacy. She noted that many beneficiaries are young people who have lost their parents and cannot afford to complete their education. The foundation said youth emancipation through education is crucial for national progress.
