The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has started an internal restructuring to improve academic excellence and administrative efficiency.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Olubunmi Shittu told the Governing Council that the redeployments across departments and faculties are to prepare for the next academic year and handle the large number of applicants. FUOYE has the third-highest admission applications for 2025/26, according to JAMB. Shittu said the changes will replace directors who have served four years or more and ensure department heads are appointed by seniority, except in cases with pending disciplinary issues.
The Governing Council agreed to approve postings for heads of departments and deans, provided they do not incur extra costs. However, it refused the hiring of a new procurement officer, citing pending work and the need to focus on the accreditation coming in September and October 2025. The council also said that recruitment for procurement must follow the proper process.
