Kano Pillars have officially unveiled their latest signing, Chiedozie Jude Okorie, a graduate of Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu, at the historic Kurmi Market, highlighting the growing intersection of higher education and professional sports in Nigeria. Okorie, who recently made the switch from Rangers International, was unveiled not in a stadium or press hall but at Kurmi Market, a 15th-century trade hub founded by Muhammad Rumfa. This ancient market, once central to Trans-Saharan trade, served as the dramatic backdrop for introducing Pillars’ new centre forward, symbolising the convergence of history, culture, and modern-day sport.

From Ingas FC, a Nationwide League One side, to Rangers International, and now to Kano Pillars, Okorie’s journey has been marked by resilience, talent, and vision. In his debut season with the Rangers, he netted four crucial goals. “It has always been my dream to play for one of the biggest clubs in Nigeria,” Okorie told the Kano Pillars media team. “It is an honour for me to join such a historic club. I want to help bring back the glory of the club, and I believe that playing alongside legends like Ahmed Musa, Rabiu Ali, and Shehu Abdullahi will definitely help me achieve my dream of lifting the league title with this great club,” Okorie said.
