The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has donated 700 doses of anti-rabies vaccines to the Yakubu Gowon University Veterinary Clinic in Abuja, bolstering veterinary services and supporting global efforts to eradicate rabies by 2030.
Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, Dr Samuel Anzaku, made this known during a visit to the university’s acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Matthew Adamu. He said the donation reflected the government’s commitment to promoting animal health and supporting research in the livestock sector.
According to him, the items included 700 doses of anti-rabies vaccine, syringes, cotton wool, disinfectants and other consumables essential for disease control. He stressed the importance of proper documentation and reporting of vaccination activities for effective monitoring.
Adamu, in his response, commended the ministry for the support and assured that the vaccines would be put to optimal use. He expressed confidence that Dr Anzaku’s leadership would drive improvements in veterinary services, disease surveillance and outreach to remote communities.
