Leah Belsky, OpenAI’s Vice President of Education, has said that every graduate today must know how to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) or risk being left behind. Speaking on OpenAI’s podcast, she warned that people who refuse to learn AI tools may become jobless soon. She called for schools to teach students how to use AI responsibly, not just to copy answers, but to think deeply and be creative. “AI is a tool,” Belsky said, “just like calculators used to be.”
To help students learn better, OpenAI has introduced “Study Mode” in ChatGPT, which guides learners with helpful questions instead of giving direct answers. Belsky also encouraged students to learn basic coding using tools like “vibe coding,” where users tell AI what to build in simple language. Other tech companies like Kira Learning are also working on classroom tools to help students and teachers make the best use of AI while still learning through effort and practice.
