Havilla University, Nde Ikom, Cross River State, has joined global efforts to promote mental health and nutrition awareness by celebrating World Egg Day and World Mental Health Day with students of Government Secondary School (GOVISCO), Ikom.
The event, organised by the university’s Department of Nursing Science in collaboration with corps members and the Dean of Student Affairs, Mrs Ita Essien, centred on the theme “The Mighty Egg: Packed with Natural Nutrition.” It aimed to educate students on the link between good nutrition and mental well-being.
Two 400-level Nursing Science students, Uche Victoria and Rindi, led sessions on the nutritional benefits of eggs and the importance of mental health. Victoria highlighted eggs as a source of protein and essential nutrients for healthy living, while Rindi urged students to prioritise their mental wellness and seek support when needed.
Mrs Essien encouraged students to take proactive steps in maintaining good mental health and fostering supportive relationships within their communities. The celebration ended with participants sharing boiled eggs donated by Havilla University, accompanied by music and songs promoting healthy living.
Organisers said the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to community engagement, youth development, and holistic well-being in the region.
