A 500-level medical student from Igbinedion University, Okada, Ms Sarah Fatukasi, has been selected to represent Nigeria as a Student Ambassador at the 2025 World Transplant Congress (WTC).
The event is one of the largest in the world and will bring together top doctors and experts in organ donation and transplantation. Ms. Fatukasi was chosen after a rigorous selection process that sought out smart and talented medical students. She is one of the few selected from different countries to help teach people about organ donation.
The WTC Student Ambassador Programme aims to train and inspire 3rd- and 4th-year medical students to become future leaders in transplant medicine. As an ambassador, Sarah will attend training sessions, meet international medical professionals, and help raise awareness about organ donation in Nigeria and across the globe.
The Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye, congratulated her and stated that her selection demonstrates the university’s high standards in training its medical students. “Sarah’s achievement is proof that IUO is committed to producing doctors who can stand tall anywhere in the world,” he said. The university community is proud of Sarah and wishes her success as she joins other students from around the world at the WTC 2025.
