Igbinedion University Vice-Chancellor Calls on Government for Education Improvement

The Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye

Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, the Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, has urged the government to amplify policies that support education, research, and intellectual development to improve national development. 

Ezemonye mentioned that intellectual property is recognised for enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in global markets and attracting both local and foreign investments.  He made this statement during a roundtable discussion on intellectual property, organised by the Igbinedion University Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO), themed “The Role of Intellectual Property in Supporting Nigeria’s Development Goals.”

“There is no doubt that Nigeria, with its vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and creative industries, has immense potential to harness innovation for sustainable development. Strengthening policies that support research, intellectual property, and education can further accelerate progress”, he stated. He continued to explain that intellectual property protects creators and innovators by granting them rights over their inventions and promoting advancements in technology, literature, and business.
