Kogi Spends ₦1bn on Examination Fees

Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State.

The Kogi State Government states that it has spent over ₦1 billion in just one year to cover the cost of external examinations for students in public primary and secondary schools. This was revealed by the Governor’s Media Aide, Hon. Ismaila Isah, at the 2025 Blueprint Impact Award event in Abuja.

Governor Ahmed Ododo was honoured as “Governor of the Year in Human Capital Development” at the event. Isah said the state’s investment in education has helped boost school enrolment and reduce the number of out-of-school children, making Kogi the best in Northern Nigeria in that area. He also mentioned ongoing work to improve over 300 primary healthcare centres across all 21 local government areas in the state. The award, according to Isah, is proof that Kogi is making progress in both education and health, building a brighter and healthier population.
