Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, has called on students for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to maintain integrity and avoid exam malpractice.
The examination started on April 24 and will end on June 20, 2025.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Alli-Balogun stated that the state government has provided adequate resources to help students prepare for the exam.
He advised students to remain focused, resist peer pressure, and approach the exams with discipline for their future success.
The Commissioner also mentioned that the Eko Learners’ Support Programme, which offers 320 televised and online lessons across 10 subjects, is one of the state’s initiatives aimed at improving academic performance.
In addition, school principals and vice principals are now required to teach six to eight periods weekly to further support students.
Alli-Balogun reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to academic excellence, stating that all learning content aligns with the Lagos State curriculum and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO) syllabuses. The NECO exams are set to begin on June 16, 2025.
