The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) has warned the public after a cyber café operator allegedly defrauded an admission seeker of ₦500,000.
According to a petition to the Provost, Professor Raheem Akewushola, the victim paid part of an agreed ₦1.5 million to secure admission into the Health Assistant programme. When admission did not come, the suspect reportedly promised to provide a certificate without classes, but later turned to threats when asked for a refund.
Akewushola said the suspect confessed during interrogation, claiming the money was for another professional body, though he could not provide details. Stamp pads from various institutions were also recovered from his shop.
The Provost stressed that the suspect is neither a staff member nor an agent of LASCOHET, warning the public against dealing with him or others making false admission promises. He assured that investigations are ongoing to bring the culprit to justice.
