The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Ogun State government, has conducted a capacity-building workshop aimed at addressing human trafficking in schools.
The workshop, which included coordinators of Anti-Trafficking Vanguard Clubs in Ogun State, focused on empowering young students to stay informed, proactive, and protected. Rhoda Dia-Johnson, Project Manager, ICMPD, disclosed that the news reminds her of school children’s vulnerability to trafficking, stating that many have fallen victim. She added that schools are now strategically positioned to understand trafficking, recognise warning signs, and take action. The ICMPD suggested that the government implement working policies to tackle human trafficking, particularly in border areas.
