National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has pledged full support to the University of Jos (UNIJOS) ahead of the 27th Nigerian University Games (NUGA) scheduled for November 6-18, 2025.
Yilwatda pledged while receiving the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tanko Ishaya, in Abuja, assuring that he would assist in ensuring the most memorable edition of the games. He described NUGA as a vital national event that deserves collective support.
Ishaya briefed him on ongoing preparations, noting that the university aims to deliver world-class facilities for the competition and highlighting the Federal Government’s existing support.
Meanwhile, NUGA officials, led by Technical Chairman Prof Garba Yakasai, expressed satisfaction with the 90 per cent completion level of the facilities after an inspection visit. Yakasai commended the standard of the indoor sports hall, describing it as one of the best in Nigerian universities.
Over 10,000 athletes and officials are expected to participate in the games, last hosted in 2021 by the University of Lagos.
