The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, welcomed a high-level team from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) at the university’s Council Chamber on Monday, May 26, 2025.
During the visit, Prof. Liman thanked everyone and stated that the meeting was crucial for the future of higher education in Nigeria. She said it was a good opportunity to discuss education policies, how universities can collaborate, and ways to improve learning in the country.
She noted that Nigeria’s education sector is currently facing serious challenges as it tries to meet global education standards. According to her, schools must adopt innovative teaching methods and embrace new learning approaches that align with current global trends.
In his response, Professor Andrew Haruna, Secretary-General of CVCNU, praised Nasarawa State University (NSUK) for taking education seriously. He said he disagrees with the idea that state universities give poor-quality education. According to him, NSUK is a good example that demonstrates how state schools can excel. He also praised Prof. Liman for her unique and effective leadership style. Professor Haruna stated that the Committee is prepared to collaborate closely with NSUK in areas such as capacity building, leadership training, digital transformation, and academic dialogue. The event, attended by senior university officials, was capped with the presentation of an award to the Vice-Chancellor by the CVCNU team. A group photograph was also taken to mark the special visit. The visit highlights the growing recognition of NSUK’s efforts in raising education standards and promoting collaboration among Nigerian universities.
