NUC Approves 17 Courses at Sa’adu Zungur University, Boosting Academic Prospects

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited 17 academic programmes at Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau, Bauchi State.

This approval, communicated in a letter dated April 30, 2025, and addressed to the university’s Visitor, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, aligns with Section 10(1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The accredited courses span several faculties, including Administration, Agriculture, Arts, Allied Health Science, Basic Medical Science, Law, Pharmacy, and Science.

Programmes such as Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Agriculture, Arabic, Human Physiology, Public Health, Anatomy, Law, Pharm D, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Science Laboratory Technology, and Zoology received either full or interim accreditation.

This development follows the NUC’s accreditation exercise conducted in November 2024, where a delegation of 21 experts across seven teams evaluated the university’s academic programmes.

Vice Chancellor Professor Fatimah Tahir expressed confidence that the accreditation marks a significant step toward achieving the university’s mission of academic excellence.

She also acknowledged Governor Mohammed’s unwavering support for the institution.

The accreditation is expected to enhance SAZU’s academic standing, enabling it to compete more effectively with other institutions nationwide and reaffirming its commitment to providing quality education.
