Oluremi Tinubu Gives N47m, Laptops to Students

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has disbursed N47 million and laptops to 47 students under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) scholarship scheme.

At a ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, each beneficiary, selected from tertiary institutions across the country, received N1 million and a brand-new laptop. The recipients span disciplines including medicine, law, engineering, education, and the sciences.

Mrs. Tinubu stressed that the initiative was about service, not politics. “This is not about politics; it is about people’s lives,” she said, urging the awardees to maximise the opportunity.

Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, commended the programme as a complement to government interventions, noting that 55 per cent of the beneficiaries are in STEM-related fields.

He cited ongoing federal support, including N10 billion in bursaries for 12,434 students and nearly N100 billion disbursed through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund to over 500,000 students.

RHI National Secretary, Chioma Uzodinmma, said the 2025 batch followed earlier cohorts in 2023 and 2024, each student meeting a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
