Some private school owners, under the aegis of the Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED), and some education experts have suggested that the future must rely on low-cost educational solutions. The group added that education should be rooted in cultural wisdom, local resources, and innovative practices to make learning the key to sustainable development in Africa.  In addition, they mentioned that Nigeria must endeavour to apply African-driven approaches to education, incorporating both traditional and modern techniques.

Hon. Orji Kanu Emmanuel, the AFED National President, speaking at the AFED 2025 African Education Conference, themed ‘Harnessing African Wisdom and Innovation for Sustainable Development,’ stated that the future of Nigeria depends on how well children are educated now and in the future.  Emmanuel described Africa as a hub of wisdom, creativity, storytelling, traditional learning, and apprenticeship that have shaped many leaders.

He said, “Today, we must draw from this rich heritage while embracing technical advancement and policy reforms that make education more inclusive and impactful.” He further stated that school owners, educators, policymakers, and partners should collaborate to create a working and inclusive system for children where education drives sustainable development in extraordinary measures.
