The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), also known as Pyrates Confraternity, has initiated a campaign to combat cultism among secondary school students in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The campaign, themed “Combating Cultism in Secondary Schools,” visited four schools: Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta Grammar School, Baptist Girls High School, and Ogun State Technical College.
The primary message was to encourage students to shun cultism, speak out against it, and protect their peers from its dangers.
Oluwatoyin Peter, Capoon of NAS’s Ash Montana Deck, emphasised the importance of students avoiding bad influences and reporting any cult-related activities they encounter.
Ninilola Majelodunmi, First Mate of the Katamaran Deck, stated that cultism often leads to bullying and violence, urging students to speak out if they feel uncomfortable.
Babatunde Folarin, a member of the Ash Montana Deck, called on anyone involved in cultism to renounce it, assuring them that the government is ready to offer rehabilitation and support for reintegration into society.
The initiative received positive feedback from students, many of whom expressed gratitude for the awareness raised.
This campaign reflects NAS’s commitment to fostering a safe and conducive learning environment by addressing the menace of cultism in secondary schools.
