Bayelsa Medical University (BMU) has hosted a high delegation from the State of African Diaspora (SOAD), a socio-political body recognised by the African Union to integrate Africans abroad into continental development.
The delegation, led by SOAD Prime Minister Dr Louis-Georges Tin, included Princess Elsie Amatusero, Aubrey Richter, Sebastian Thembo, and Dr Johnson Onyemah. After receiving an invitation from Governor Douye Diri and visiting Niger Delta University, the team met with BMU’s management for strategic discussions.
The talks centred on collaboration in digital diagnosis, research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical production, disease control, dialysis services, and traditional medicine.
Welcoming the delegation, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dimie Ogoina described BMU as one of the fastest-growing universities in the region, noting its rapid expansion and international visibility.
Tin emphasised SOAD’s mission to promote unity, technology transfer and investment across Africa. The visit ended with a facility tour and debriefing.
