Key stakeholders across Africa’s education sector—including policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and edtech organisations—are set to convene for a summit aimed at transforming higher education through digital innovation.
The event, organised by Argyle IT & Education, a leading education technology firm, will take place from June 19 to 20. It is designed to accelerate the adoption of digital tools that will reshape teaching, learning, and research across the continent.
Speaking during a virtual press conference, Solikume Joel, Chief Operating Officer of Argyle IT & Education, explained that the summit will serve as a platform for experts to deliberate on ways to drive investment into Africa’s higher education sector. He said the programme would also address key issues such as funding constraints and the deployment of relevant technologies to enhance institutional performance.
According to him, DHEA was born out of a shared need identified in the education sector through their work at Argyle IT & Education, a career-focused education technology company committed to transforming how education is delivered and how careers are shaped in Nigeria and across Africa. He said the organisation identified a gap in conversations around the real challenges facing education and a need to highlight what is working while expanding the digital higher education space.
Also speaking on the role of higher education in national development, Opeyemi Ibukun, Chief Executive Officer of Argyle IT & Education, underscored its importance as a driver of innovation and economic growth. He noted that one of the key achievements of developing countries is their substantial investment in higher education, with over 60 per cent of their population enrolled in tertiary institutions, significantly higher than the less than 30 per cent enrolment rate seen in other regions.
