USAID withdrawal

The withdrawal of U.S. support in northeast Nigeria is now threatening the survival of a school catering to children affected by the Boko Haram insurgency. The Islamist group, which has waged violence since 2009 in a bid to impose Islamic law, forbids Western education and gained notoriety following the 2014 abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok.
