Students from the University of Ibadan (UI) have once again demonstrated why the institution is renowned for its academic excellence. Three UI students won top prizes in two major competitions, the Distinction Quizathon 2.0 and the first-ever National Campus Challenge, both organised by education technology company, FlexiSAF.
In the highly competitive Distinction Quizathon, which involved over 6,000 students from more than 200 schools across Nigeria, two UI students stood out. Daniel Adesanya, a 500-level Petroleum Engineering student, came in first place and received a cash prize of ₦1 million. His victory showed strong skills in problem-solving and critical thinking. Another student, Barnabas Oluwasegun, who is in the 200-level of Medicine and Surgery, came in third place and won ₦500,000.
At the National Campus Challenge, held on May 10, 2025, Abayomi Elijah Olutayo, a 200-level student in Medicine and Surgery, also brought honour to the school by finishing in second place in the Overall Best 3 Category. He was rewarded with a ₦150,000 cash prize. The award for the National Campus Challenge was officially received by the Director of ITeMS (Information Technology and Media Services) on behalf of the University during the COMDICT-NTI conference in Abuja, which took place from May 12 to 13, 2025, at Nicon Luxury Hotel. Mrs. Abiodun A. Alao, who serves as Treasurer of COMDICT-NTI, was also present.
These wins serve as further proof of UI’s strong learning environment and the quality of students it produces. The University of Ibadan continues to shine across Nigeria, and these students’ achievements have brought immense pride to the university.
