The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has dismissed claims that technical errors caused cases of malpractice flagged during its 2025/2026 Post-UTME screening. The four-day computer-based test, held from September 1 to 4, drew complaints on social media, suggesting that some candidates were wrongly accused due to system faults.
In a statement, UNILAG said the breaches under review came from “clear violations” of examination rules, not glitches. The institution explained that its monitoring included secure video surveillance, which exposed misconduct. While it ruled out releasing complete recordings due to privacy and legal reasons, the school said it may publish anonymised screenshots as proof.
The statement became necessary following growing concerns among parents and candidates questioning the credibility of the process. UNILAG urged applicants to ignore the report because they were not given by the university. The university also said it will always be fair and transparent, stressing that its admission process remains credible and protected against manipulation.
