UNILORIN Among Beneficiaries of ₦110bn Medical Fund

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has been named among 18 tertiary institutions to benefit from the Federal Government’s ₦110 billion intervention fund to expand medical training facilities nationwide.

President Bola Tinubu disclosed this during the university’s 40th Convocation Ceremony, stating that the initiative seeks to strengthen medical education and address the shortage of healthcare professionals. Represented by FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Prof Temidayo Oladiji, the President reassured his administration’s commitment to research and innovation, noting that UNILORIN remains a model for academic discipline and excellence.

Tinubu also announced that UNILORIN would host one of the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) Digital Innovation Hubs to promote research and digital skills among students.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole (SAN), congratulated the 11,886 graduating students, including 316 First Class achievers, urging them to uphold the university’s values of integrity and hard work.

The convocation, which marked UNILORIN’s golden jubilee, was attended by dignitaries and academics who described the university as one of Nigeria’s foremost centres of learning and innovation.
