The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has dismissed reports alleging irregularities in its 2025/2026 admission process as false and malicious.
In a statement on Thursday, the acting public relations officer, Inya Agha Egwu, said the publication was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the institution’s image and that of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya.
The university clarified that all admissions are supervised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and follow the national quota system: 45% Merit, 35% Catchment Area, and 20% Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS).
To clarify further, UNN released official cut-off marks for Medicine and Surgery: 338 for Merit, and varying scores across Catchment and ELDS categories.
The institution also disclosed that over 600 candidates scored above 300 in Medicine and Surgery alone, refuting claims that only a few met the cut-off.
The statement reassured the university’s commitment to transparency, fairness and Merit, urging the public to disregard the false reports and rely on verified information from its official channels.
