The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that the news about the organisation cancelling the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is false.
Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs for WAEC in Yaba, Lagos, said the examination marking scripts have been completed and will be released on or before Thursday, August 4, 2025. She added that the false information was generated by individuals with malicious intent, seeking to harm the organisation’s reputation and causing examination candidates to panic. Adesina ascertained that the 2025 WASSCE was successful. She urged the general public to distance itself from the news.
