The World Bank has begun upgrading 490 public secondary schools across Nasarawa State under its Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project. The initiative spans all 13 local government areas of the state.
Governor Abdullahi Sule flagged off the project in Lafia, stating it became possible after the state paid N150 million as counterpart funding. He said the AGILE project will help improve access, retention, and the quality of girls’ education at the secondary school level. He thanked the Federal Ministry of Education for selecting Nasarawa for the school improvement grant and pledged his administration’s full support to ensure the project’s success.
The governor also urged School-Based Management Committees and stakeholders to use the resources wisely and follow the approved plans strictly. He emphasised the need for transparency and accountability to make the project beneficial for students, especially adolescent girls, across the state.
