A total of 146 students of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, have graduated with First Class Honours out of 1,064 students who completed their studies at the institution’s 20th convocation ceremony.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Jonathan Babalola, said the graduates were equipped intellectually, socially, and morally in line with the university’s vision of raising godly leaders with competence and character.
He disclosed that 394 students earned Second Class Upper, 221 obtained Second Class Lower, 69 made Third Class, and five graduated with a Pass. In the health sciences, 30 students achieved Distinction in Physiotherapy and Nursing, while 66 others earned the MBBS degree.
Babalola further revealed that 26 graduates received Master’s degrees, while nine were awarded PhDs. He appealed to the Federal Government to extend the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to students in private universities.
He also called on the Osun State Government to halt the taxation of the institution’s educational radio station, stressing that it serves community development purposes, not for profit.
