A remarkable performance by 16-year-old Olamide Aderibigbe has caught many’s attention after scoring an impressive 336 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The student of Starville International School in Jabi, Abuja, earned high marks in all his subjects, with 98 in Mathematics, 86 in Physics, 68 in English, and 84 in Economics.
His father, Niran Aderibigbe, shared his joy with Punch, saying the family is grateful to God for this achievement.
Olamide has expressed a desire to pursue Architecture at either Covenant University or the University of Ibadan.
The 2025 UTME results, released on Friday, May 9, showed that over 1.5 million candidates scored below the average benchmark of 200, a trend that has led many to describe the examation as a mass failure.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) reported that only 12,414 candidates scored 300 and above, while just 4,756 achieved scores above 320.
In response to the results, Minister of Education Dr Tunji Alausa attributed the poor performance to the government’s continued efforts to combat examination malpractices in the system.
