Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu, a House of Representatives Member representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, disbursed ₦97 million in the second phase of his scholarship scheme on Sunday, Jun. 15, 2025.
He disclosed that the scholarship programme is eligible for indigent students in various tertiary institutions.
Recall that the lawmaker released ₦120 million in the first phase of the Bungudu/Maru Scholarship and Studies Project. Hon. Zannan Bungudu, represented by Hon. Bashir Bello Auki, the chairman of the coordinating committee, stated that the scholarship scheme is accessible to all indigent students, regardless of their political affiliation. He said, “When it comes to education, especially this scholarship matter, every constituent is entitled to benefit irrespective of political affiliation.”
Muhammad Lawal Adamu, Chairman of the Scholarship and Education Committee, weighed in on the discussion, stating that the committee is willing to ensure the exercise runs smoothly. He added that the committee has written to the management and registrars of all tertiary institutions in Nigeria for data on all indigent students from Bungudu and Maru LGAs. This is just one of many scholarship schemes Zubairu has initiated. Earlier this month, he approved the disbursement of ₦24.5 million to 614 tertiary students from Bungudu and Maru Local Government Areas.
