Dr Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State, recently commended the role of women in improving education in the country. The educationist made this known at the opening ceremony of the 2nd National Conference of the Association of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE) held in Zuba, Abuja.
Mahmoud, who was represented by Mrs Joy Okeke, the Permanent Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, commends the steadfast commitment to gender inclusion, professional development, and academic excellence in all colleges of education.
She described the theme, “Revolutionising Education; Announcing Innovation Pedagogies For 21st Century Students,”as timely and aligned it with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on inclusive education and human capital development.
Okeke also called on participants to utilise the conference platform to share knowledge, mentor soon-to-be professionals, build networks, and develop positive strategies to enhance colleges of education within the society and at large. The Federal Government is focusing more on education at the primary and tertiary levels. “We hope to see more developments, especially in this ever-changing world, which prioritises education as a rigid foundation for the economy”, she said.
