ABU Loses Pioneering Journalism Prof

Prof Ladi Sandra Adamu, was the first female professor of broadcasting in Northern Nigeria


Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has mourned the death of Prof Ladi Sandra Adamu, a renowned mass communication scholar and the first female professor of broadcasting in Northern Nigeria. She died at 67 after a prolonged battle with breast cancer.


Her passing was confirmed on Wednesday by Associate Professor Muhammad Hashim Suleiman of the Department of Mass Communication at ABU. Prof. Adamu, born on January 17, 1958, in Plateau State, made significant contributions to journalism education and broadcasting research in Nigeria.


The ABU community, comprising colleagues, students, and alumni, has expressed deep grief over the loss of a trailblazer whose legacy has shaped generations of media professionals.
