Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has once again made Nigeria proud as two of its student teams excelled in the global ‘Power the Community 2025’ energy design competition. The contest, held online and hosted by Energy Mentors in the USA, featured entries from 18 countries.
ABU’s teams, Terra Haven and Shika Oasis, both made it into the global top 10 for their innovative and sustainable energy infrastructure designs. The students used local ideas to solve real-world energy problems despite limited funding.
The Dean of Environmental Design, Prof. Abdullahi Abubakar, praised the students for their hard work and briefed the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, on their success. Prof. Ahmed called their performance “exceptional” and promised to support further development of their ideas for possible use in local communities. The university states that it is committed to helping students win more international competitions and become global problem solvers.
