Abubakar Inducted as IPI Member

Mr. Mustafa Muhammad Abubakar, of UNILORIN, has been inducted into the International Press Institute Nigeria

Mr Mustafa Muhammad Abubakar, an Assistant Director (Information) at the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin (Ilorin), has been inducted into the International Press Institute Nigeria (IPI Nigeria).

The induction was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the 2025 IPI Nigeria Annual Conference and General Meeting (AGM).
Abubakar was recognised alongside other professionals for contributing to Nigeria’s strong, independent media landscape and for upholding high standards in journalism.

Speaking at the event, Abubakar expressed, “It is indeed a privilege to join IPI Nigeria and contribute to the collective mission of defending press freedom and ethical journalism.”

Commending the inductees, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim Shekarau, the IPI Nigeria Secretary, noted that their membership is a key step in promoting ethical reporting and protecting journalists’ rights.
