Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has unveiled the Josephus Institute of Earth Sciences, a modern research and learning centre donated by Chief Tunde J. Afolabi, Chairman of Amni Petroleum Group.
The new facility, which was opened on Saturday, August 30, 2025, has modern laboratories, lecture halls, and digital research equipment. It was built to train students in geology, petroleum studies, and other earth science courses, enabling them to contribute to solving Africa’s energy and environmental problems.
At the commissioning, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Folu Adeboye, were present. The attendance of the respected clergyman and his wife showed that there is a connection between faith, education, and national development
Chief Afolabi said the project was his way of giving back and building future capacity for Nigeria and Africa. Stakeholders described the institute as a potential game changer, positioning Redeemer’s University among the top centres for earth science research on the continent.
