The Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri, Imo State, has dismissed claims that it is one of the institutions that admitted fewer than 1,000 students in the 2024/2025 admission process.
Nanemeka Ijioma, the university’s head of public relations, in a statement, said people’s claims that the university admitted 942 students is untrue, as the vice chancellor mentioned during the matriculation ceremony that it admitted 2,428.
It further stated that the false claim puts the institution at risk of losing significant funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
Condemning the rumour monger, the statement elaborated that “linking the Honourable Minister of Education to the falsehood is embarrassing and maligns the person and the office.”
