Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, will graduate 3,633 students at its 17th Convocation Ceremony this week, as Vice Chancellor Professor Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole outlined the institution’s progress in her first 60 days in office.
Of the graduating students, 2,336 are undergraduates and 1,297 postgraduates. The undergraduate class includes 76 First Class, 1,408 Second Class Upper, 810 Second Class Lower and 42 Third Class degrees. The postgraduate awards comprise 1,127 Master’s degrees and 170 postgraduate diplomas.
Professor Oduwole said her administration had moved quickly to strengthen academic standards, improve student welfare and expand the university’s national profile. The National Universities Commission recently concluded accreditation exercises for seven programmes, while new courses in Journalism and Media Studies, Broadcasting, and Information and Media Science await verification. An Artificial Intelligence degree is planned once approval is granted.
The university has completed plans for a College of Health Sciences, expected to offer Medicine, Pharmacy and allied disciplines. Infrastructure upgrades include faculty relocations, improved internet connectivity, and an overhaul of the University Health Centre, with plans for a modern teaching hospital.
She highlighted student innovations and reaffirmed ACU’s commitment to academic excellence and integrity.
