The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has handed over a newly built N310 million students’ hostel to the Federal University of Technology, Minna, in Niger State.
The project, completed under the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme, is part of the organisation’s ongoing support for infrastructure development in Nigerian universities. The 110-bed facility is expected to ease accommodation pressure on campus and improve students’ welfare.
A pre-handover inspection carried out in August confirmed that the building met all required standards. The hostel includes a common room, reception, hall, supervisor’s office, kitchen, laundry area and multiple exit points.
FUT Minna Vice-Chancellor said the intervention had strengthened the university’s ability to provide safe and conducive accommodation. He thanked ASR Africa founder and BUA Group chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for what he described as a significant contribution to students’ wellbeing.
ASR Africa Managing Director, Dr Ubon Udoh, said the organisation would continue to monitor the facility over the next two years to ensure proper maintenance.
Representing the Niger State Governor, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education praised the donation as exemplary and urged other corporations to support higher institutions.
Established in 2021, ASR Africa focuses on delivering sustainable, impact-driven projects in health, education and social development across the continent.
