The Founder and President of Atiba University, Oyo, Dr James Adesokan Ojebode, has criticised reports that some federal universities have refused to accept results from the National Examinations Council (NECO) in their ongoing admission processes.
In a statement issued in Oyo, Ojebode described the move as unjust, discriminatory, and contrary to Nigeria’s commitment to inclusive education.
He said the decision had unfairly affected candidates who applied with awaiting results but were later denied admission after NECO released theirs, calling it a violation of the right to education and evidence of administrative failure.
Ojebode urged the Federal Ministry of Education, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and NECO to intervene immediately and direct the affected institutions to reopen their admission portals for result uploads.
He stressed that education should serve as a tool for empowerment, not exclusion, adding that improved coordination among examination and admission bodies was key to preserving the credibility of Nigeria’s education system.
